GENERAL INFORMATION FOR SUBMITTING A PROPOSAL FOR A PEDIATRIC RESEARCH PROJECT

The purpose of the Association For Research of Childhood Cancer (AROCC) grant awards is to provide
funding for basic science and clinical projects related to the goal of advancing knowledge in pediatric and adolescent cancers. AROCC provides support for multiple, one-year "seed type" grants addressing basic
science and/or clinical research in areas directly or indirectly related to research issues in pediatric or adolescent cancer research. Applications must include a statement of relevance to pediatric
cancer. Grants can request up to $30,000 per application. Indirect costs will not be paid.
All grants are peer reviewed by the Medical/Scientific Advisory Board.
Funding decisions are made by the AROCC Board based on the recommendations of the Medical/Scientific Advisory Board and the availability of funds in a granting period.
PEDIATRIC GRANT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

"Format Instructions"). Electronic version must be submitted as a single PDF file to Diane Piacente (email@example.com) by FEBRUARY 1 each year). One single original
should also be mailed to Diane Piacente (address below)
February 1 – Applications Due to Diane Piacente
February-March – Medical/Scientific Advisory Board Grant Review Meeting
April-May – Funding decisions made by AROCC Board
June 1 – Grants begin (project period June 1 – May 31 (one year)
An investigator may submit only one (1) application as principal investigator.
The principal investigator must hold an independent faculty/staff research position (postdoctoral and resident fellows are
The principal investigator must be a U.S. resident.
A detailed budget justification must be provided.
Salary support for PI, Co-PI and Co-Investigations is NOT permitted.
Salary support for technical staff in laboratories may be requested. However no personnel fringe benefits will be permitted.
Costs associated with indirect costs, foreign or domestic travel, photocopying, general office/clerical supplies,
publications, membership fees are NOT permitted.
It is the
responsibility of the applicant to obtain all appropriate administrative clearances, including, if necessary, Institutional Review Board or Institute Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) approval. Deadline
for submission of a grant application is February 1st for awards to begin June 1st.
A complete report of research activities (Final Progress Report) including publications and other grants resulting from the work must
be submitted within three (3) months of grant ending or termination. Final progress reports should be sent to the AROCC Grant Coordinator, Diane Piacente (address on Format Instructions Page)
